Most Common Q&A
Do you offer plus sizes?
Yes, I try to maintain a variety and carry just about every size, including plus sizes up to 32. However, my stock is very limited, which means the available sizes are limited as well.
— My most common sizes are between a standard 8 and 20.
— If a dress your size is not available, consider taking in a larger dress
— I recommend taking a dress in 5 inches max so alterations are not drastic.
Can you remake a sold dress for me?
No, all my gowns are limited edition or one-offs. The only chance of a dress re-stocking is if the bride wishes to consign their gown. Although rare, it does occur.
I do, however, often do very similar colorings on different gowns.
Like a traditional artist, I have collections that I often add to. For instance, my sunset collection features all mermaid gowns with my signature sunset coloring. If you love that coloring, chances are you will be seeing more of it on different gowns.
Can you color my gown?
Custom is currently closed, and I have no plans to open it again. Choosing my own "Canvases" is an important part of my process. If I do open custom again, I will announce it through my newsletter.
Is the color permanent? Is it water-safe?
YES! No need to worry about steam or rain, this color will not transfer and can be hand-washed as well. Just no dry-cleaning, they use chemicals meant to remove color.
— All gown purchases include free in-house hand washing after your wedding.
What paint/dye do you use?
I do not disclose direct information regarding my process for several reasons. First, the coloring medium and process I use are not the same for every gown, not even on every layer of a dress. So I cannot give you a simple answer.
More importantly, there are people out there trying to knock off every new gown I post. Other "artists" are copying every aspect of my business. Following me, reading this, and even trying to snake my clients in comments on my pages. While I do not mind at all the DIY bride being inspired by my work and trying it for themselves, other businesses copying my work is appalling. I will by no means help them by providing more information on the process I developed myself and the mediums I found, tested, and prefer.
Lastly, if you are another artist, and not the kind mentioned above, remember your developed skills are much more important than the paint/dye you use. Magic mediums are not a thing; it's all about you. Even the medium you choose is more of a personal preference; many mediums work as long as you follow the basic principles. Sorry, I can't be of more help.
Does the paint make it stiff?
There can be some slight changes depending on the dress/fabric. I often disclose on the listing if a particular gown has a stiff area.
Tulle — No change.
English Netting — Slightly heavier, needs to be steamed before wearing.
Chiffon — Slightly heavier, needs to be steamed before wearing.
Organza — No change.
Thin Lace — No change.
Thick Lace — Slightly heavier, slightly stiffer, but still flexible.
3-D Hand Painted Lace — Purposfully thick, I paint in a manner that keeps gaps for movement, but hand-painted lace does have a different feel. It's more of an embellishment like beadwork. Placed in an area where a minor stiffness can be beneficial to help the train lay out perfectly.
Does it smell at all?
Right out of the box, or when kept sealed, you may notice a slight paint scent. This WILL air out after a bit of time out of the box/bag. I also treat the fabric with a conditioner after painting. This conditioner has a light lavender scent, and a lavender sachet is included to deter insects during storage. So you may smell lavender more than you will paint. If you're not a fan of this smell or are sensitive to lavender, email me after placing your order.
Do you take donations?
I am very picky about the gowns I select for upcycling. For this reason, I prefer to buy gowns from bridal shops or resale platforms like Still White and Poshmark. Accepting physical donations in the past left me overcrowded with unusable gowns. If you would like to help my business increase inventory, you can donate monetarily. 100% of this goes to purchasing “canvas” gowns.
Shopping Q&A
Return Policy?
For Ready-Made Gowns, Limited Edition Gowns, and Accessories, I offer a 7-day try-on period from the date the dress is received. During these seven days, the dress can be returned for any reason at zero cost to you.
Some exclusions apply
— Returns must be unworn, unaltered, and in original condition.
— All original packaging must be included for a full refund.
— If purchased in person, the sale is final immediately.
— Any custom work is final sale, not returnable.
Refunds are processed back to the original form of payment once I have received the gown back and inspected it.
Once the seven days have passed, the dress sale is final.
Can I put a dress on hold?
Before Purchase
— On gowns that have been listed longer than three days, I allow 24-hour holds to accommodate acquiring funds or payment problems.
— After one week, I allow holds for in-person try-ons. Click here for more details regarding in-person try-ons
After Purchase
— I allow a 4-week max shipping hold and will still honor the return period within this time frame.
— I can hold the dress for longer; however, the return period would be void, and the sale would be final for any holds over one month.
Shipping Options?
Every order includes free shipping. I use USPS Priority Mail fully insured.
— A signature is required to receive any item over 1k
— If the post office marks your order as lost in the mail, reach out to me. (I have had packages delayed, but they have always shown up.) If I cannot replace your order, you will get a refund as soon as the insurance is paid out.
— If you are uncomfortable with USPS, you may request a different carrier. However, the shipping fees are then your responsibility.
Process time? How long will my order take?
Please see the listing of the item you are interested in for exact times.
— Most accessories take 8 weeks
— Most ready-made gowns take 2 weeks
— Most limited edition gowns take 4 months.
Once shipped, you will receive tracking information and can expect it in 2-3 business days.
I'm having payment issues.
This is common! Typically, your bank needs to approve the transaction. This may take 1-2 days. If you are experiencing this problem, please email me here to have the dress put on a temporary hold.
It won't let me add to cart.
This can happen if it's already in your Cart. To check your cart, click the shopping bag icon (top right). — Since each dress is limited to one, the checkout will not allow you to add 2 hense the error message.
How do hem alterations work?
The gown's length can be taken up where the skirt attaches to the bodice. If your seamstress does not offer this, see another seamstress. You can also make an appointment with me here in Kansas City if you're worried; I work with a top-notch seamstress, Roux Bridal.
— Make sure to meet with seamstresses during the 7-day try-on period so you can return the gown if the alterations are too drastic.
Do you take International Orders?
I only service within the United States; I do not offer international shipping due to customs/tariffs, and the time required for international shipping would void my return policy.
— If you will be visiting the United States, I do have a try-on location in Kansas City, MO, and can arrange a try-on in Glendale, CA. Click here for details on my try-on appointments.
Do you take rush orders?
Occasionally, I can, it depends on my workload and the time frame. You can email me here with your order details and when you need it. I'll let you know if I can and the cost if so.
